Kitchen & Communal Space
Our building has two shared kitchen-lounge areas, one on the first floor and one on the second. Please use the kitchen-lounge on the same floor as your room to help keep things balanced and organised.
Each resident is assigned their own cupboard and fridge/freezer space, which is labelled for you. Kindly use only your designated areas.
When using the kitchen, we ask that you:
Wash dishes, pans, and utensils immediately after use. Once clean, dry them and put them away rather than leaving them out.
Empty the dishwasher as soon as it finishes so the next person can use it.
Wipe down any surfaces you’ve used.
Clear out old food and clean up any spills
These small habits help keep the space clean and welcoming for everyone. Please note: if any items are left out (clean or dirty), they may be placed at the top of the stairs leading to the basement so the kitchen remains tidy.
You’re welcome to use the communal plates and pans, but we recommend bringing your own and storing them in your room for convenience.
Important: The cleaner does not wash dishes, so it’s up to everyone to clean up after themselves.
Kitchen Storage Guidance
To help keep the kitchen organised and hygienic for everyone please follow the guidelines below:
Each resident has their own labelled cupboard, fridge and freezer space for personal items and food. Please ensure you store your belongings within your allocated areas.
If you run out of cupboard space, any additional food must be kept in your bedroom. Communal shelves and cupboards are for shared kitchen items only (such as plates, pans, glasses and other landlord communal equipment) and must not be used for personal food and belongings. Sticky labels and pens are available in the kitchen. Please ensure that all items in the fridge, freezer and spice draw are labelled with your root name.
Any unlabelled items may be disposed of by the cleaning teams. Items in your own labelled dry food cupboard do not need additional labels. However, anything left on another shelf or in an unallocated space may be removed during kitchen cleaning. These kitchen arrangements are in place to ensure the space remains fair, organised and hygienic for all residents. Thank you for your cooperation.
The common areas are for everyone to enjoy. Relax, make yourself at home, and treat the space with care. If you have suggestions for improvements, or notice any damage or issues, please let us know right away.
Thank you for helping make the space enjoyable for all!
